These views were expressed by the Governor Gilgit-Baltistan while administering oath to the first batch of the National Youth Assembly’s Gilgit-Baltistan chapter at GB House Islamabad on January 1st, 2013. In a swearing-in ceremony, the Governor said, “I feel happy to know that the National Youth Assembly has unified youth of the country from different educational, social, religious, and political backgrounds or systems, and is now operating in more than 100 districts of the country. The National Youth Assembly is a young people’s parliament, designed by youth and led by youth for the benefit of youth; working along with an advisory board comprised of most experienced parliamentarian, bureaucrats, and other prominent figures.”

While addressing to youth of the National Youth Assembly’s GB chapter, he accosted, “as you are well aware of the pathetic law & order situation caused by the sectarian violence in the Province, which has razed the peace of Gilgit-Baltistan beyond all measures. It goes without saying that its kind a collateral damage which has totally ruined our social and economic fabric. Thus, it is imperative to change the mindset of the people radically through true spirit of education, and I figure that youth of GB can play a key role to restore the peace with their sincere and true efforts. For this I deem you people as Peace Ambassadors who can truly bring peace and tranquility in Gilgit-Baltistan. So, come forward and assume your responsibility with rigor and the spirit to stamp out the culture of violence from the province.”
Speaking to the session, President NYA Hanan Ali Abbasi, said, “No doubt the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan is dedicated, enthusiastic, and loyal with their country, but emotions are not enough they need a direction to create a positive Pakistan, youth can attain this direction through constant thinking, discussions, innovations and reasoning. For the real destiny of Pakistan and to bring positive approach, the youth must learn the neglected lessons of truth, justice, bravery and governance. In this ambitious dream to be realized, the National Youth Assembly is playing its gigantic and responsible role through its widespread of network of Youth Councilors.”
The Youth Governor of National Youth Assembly for Gilgit-Baltistan, Saeeda Mirbaz Khan, said, “In my opinion, youth development is not and should not be the responsibility of government alone. Nor should only be left to the National Youth Assembly, it is responsibility of business, labor, civil society and all spheres of government. We make clarion call for the private sector and all sectors of society to do their part to address the plight of young people. The young people are faced with many challenges and must remain focused and resolute to face these challenges head on. The young people of today are facing challenges of drug abuse and different forms of violence.”
